The Hunt - Babies #30 and 31

Thank you very much stagestar10 for the Little Lullaby Crib! I'm sure the Rose tots and babies will surely enjoy this crib! :)
Billie had emerged from the time machine already a young adult. Even though I had hoped to have some time with him, to get to know him more, I had to accept that he had to move out. Being from the past, he wanted to explore the world around him more, and he could only do that more successfully if he moved out.

Billie is a lovely combination of Edwin and my genes; with him receiving my small mouth and red hair, and his fathers nose and eyes. His skin is a different issue; like his brothers, it's more of a mixture of the parents skin.

That evening our family sat around the dinner table, conversing a little bit.

Gardenia - So Billie, your like... From the past, right? What was it like?

Garcia - Yeah! You like, emerged out of the time machine dressed in...armor? What is up with that! It's such a fashion disaster! Didn't you guys have any magazines explaining that, back in the past?

Billie - Yes and no. I was born in the past, Gardenia, yes. You have no idea how much better this place is than what how we lived back there. Though it isn't Neanderthal style there, I come from a more Medieval time. And Garcia, we didn't have magazines that time, no.

Garcia - I would die there...

Lawrence - You think that's bad? We all got sucked into the time stream again and ended up in literally the beginning of time, when cavemen existed. That's how I ended up separated from everyone, and how I got that stupid clothing..

Jay - You guys are crazy to ask all those questions... I'm gonna age myself up, along with El.

Gardenia - Suit yourself. But this IS very interesting. I think I'll have to major in history when I age up. I love history. It's soooo interesting how people acted that time, and how many pointless decisions some made.

Garcia - You sound like a Encyclopedia already...

Gardenia - And you already sound like a Fashionista!

This is Jay as a young adult. He is the carbon copy of his father in every way, except he has my curvy mouth and eyes. I try not to think of Corbin much, but everyday it haunts me, how he's dating one of my daughters. Jay has more or less tried to comprehend my challenge, and has given up on bringing his dad and me together, which I'm very grateful of. But that doesn't say he likes what I'm doing.

Jay's wish is to become a teacher, and the local school. Hey, maybe he'll even teach some of his brothers and sisters while he's there!

Eleazar aged up looking like most boys his age; boy-ish. With the sport shirt and turned hat, he would blend in nicely with the kids at school. I'm already imagining the afternoons where he has friends over..
Gardenia is a real diamond! With the hairstyle she chose, she looks much older, which is the look she's trying to bring to life. With childhood behind her, she abandoned her cropped tops and bland jeans for the more stylish fashion of teenagers.

But of course, she also changed something else about herself; her hair. There is currently blue streaks in it. Apparently her hair was too "boring". I didn't real see how it could have been.

Garcia is still the fashionista. She is extremely happy that her sister has become more stylish, and they constantly share fashion tips. Perhaps, someday, they will open a Salon together. I can definitely imagine them both with curlers in their hand, trying desperately to fix their clients hair.

Though alike in fashion, the twins are like Heaven and Earth. Can you spot any similarities? I hardly can.

Tait, oh Tait! Where to begin! He is such a cutie! Unlike his other brothers, his skin is of a darker green shade, and it has a slight shine to it. Tait has my striking blue eyes, and of course, hair color that is still unexplained.

Destiny - So, girls, what shall we do today? Eleazar really doesn't want to do anything... And Lawrence, well, you know how he is. He's permanently glued to the chess table, though now he's at the computer. So, suggestions?

Garcia - Shopping?

Gardenia - Geez...

Destiny - Anything else?

Gardenia - How about swimming?

Garcia - That could work! I could wear my new bikini...

Destiny - Swimming it is! Go get your bathing suits and lets jump into the water!

Gardenia - I really wanna be there when mom actually jumps into the swimming pool..

Garcia  - Me too! That would be like, so totally exciting. We could make a video of it and out it on Youtube...

Gardenia - Alright. But for Goodness sake, stop clapping!

Garcia - You really need a massage... Try stopping by the local spa?

Gardenia - Your impossible...

Garcia - How can I be? I exist!

My daughters were right; I wouldn't jump into the pool easily. Even though it's mighty cold, I would always choose the ladder when I have to climb in.

Gardenia - You didn't bring the camera for the video...

Garcia - Shut up!

Garcia - I'm going in first - booyah!

Gardenia - Your such a diva...

Garcia - I'll take that as a compliment!

So, there we were. The only Rose girls of the house, having some fun in the pool.

Garcia and I had a breath contest; which, I won. Surprisingly, I seem to be able to hold my breath for amazing long periods.

Garcia - Me. A diva. I couldn't win a simple contest... Eeeeek!

Even being best of friends, the twin girls loved teasing each other and battling, even in the swimming pool.

Garcia - Would you get your....behind outta my face and away from the corner. I wanna climb out!

Destiny - Here we go again...

Gardenia - Maybe you should move away your ego from me, then we'll talk.

Garcia - ...Okay.
The following afternoon the family climbed into the car and we high tailed it to the park. The kids needed some good fresh air, sunlight and some socialization.

Garcia - Hey, mom. There are some guys over there. They look pretty...interesting. Maybe you could get them for your challenge?

Destiny - Garcia, I know your only saying that so I would stop fussing over you; if I leave you alone for one minute here, you would sneak off.

Lawrence - Amen.

A familiar face was among all the strangers in the park. Alfonso made his way over to us. It had been a while since he had seen any of his daughters. He sometimes visits them at school, but that's that.

The usual wittiness and confidence wasn't in Garcia's expression as her dad came over. She didn't get to see him much, but she loved him to the ends of the earth. He always bough the girls pretty gifts, for example, jewelry. For a guy, he did have taste in the finer things life.

"Daddy...!" Garcia exclaimed as Alfonso pulled her into a hug. He kissed her hair as he gave her a tight hug.

"Garcia, my girl. It feels like ages since I last saw you. Look at what a big girl you are now!"

Garcia's only answer was laughter. I wondered what witty comment had entered her mind now.

Gardenia was more hesitant towards her father. But she was still delighted to see her old man.

"Dad... Nice to see you again," was all she could manage.

As the girls conversed with their father, Lawrence just couldn't stay away from the chess table; he managed to find an open spot at one and dived into the game.

I was very happy that Eleazar wanted to entertain his brother Tait; for one, it was a hard thing to manage to carry around a toddler, when you hardly have strength in your arms. They played peek-a-boo all day long!

Alfonso - Destiny. It's very nice to see you again. I'm glad you allow me some sort of connection with our daughters. I do miss them a lot. Just to let you know.

Destiny - It's a pleasure. Maybe you should drop by on their next birthdays...?

Alfonso - If I don't have any kind of meeting... Hmm. You know, never mind work. I will be there, thank you.

I didn't know what drove me to it, but I felt that the moment needed it. I leaned in for a kiss goodbye, and what do you know, he didn't refuse me.

I mouthed a brief 'thank you', before turning around to find the girls.

There were a group of gentleman having lunch. I recognized one of them; Garcia had pointed him out earlier. Unfortunately for the purple skinned man, he almost choked on his hamburger. Instantly, I became worried about him.

Destiny - Hello.. Are you okay, sir?

The mysterious man didn't reply immediately, but he did slide out of his seat and stand up.

His partner at the table gave him a dreamy look. I wondered what he was thinking.

Destiny - Hi, sorry to intrude on your privacy. I just wanted to know if your okay. You almost choked right there...

Mystery Man - Oh, it's okay. It happens to me all the time. I'm a fast chewer, that's all. But wait, are you Destiny Rose?

Destiny - Uhm, yes. That would be me.

Mystery Man - And are you here to ask me to participate in your challenge..?

Destiny - Originally, no. But if you want...?
The purple man (I will be nicknaming him 'Rainbow') didn't look very pleased with my answer.

"I'm sorry," he answered to me, with a tone of distress. "I'm already in a relationship, with a girl, and it's a bit rocky. So I can't be having kids with anyone else."

This was a first for me, being rejected. Usually my looks and charms were enough. But I understood this; not every guy in Sunset Valley was single, and there would be a time I would come across one that's either in a relationship or married.

"Alright. That's too bad. Your genes would have been a great contribution to the family. Thanks for being honest, and have a good day."

"Woah, woah, WOAH! Hold the phone, Cyrus. Your saying no to her-what? Your girl is WAAAAY less hotter than her."

I could barely contain a giggle at this; I covered it with a cough or two.

"Babe, will you go other there? I'd like to have a word with you."

"Babe?" I asked, flabbergasted.

"Now that we're away from my sullen friend over there, let us talk freely. I am Devon Trevino, if you do not know. I'm one of those new actors..."

Destiny - Right. So, why did you bring me over here.

Devon - I dunno. Chat? You look pretty, and I like pretty girls, so I talk to them.

Destiny - My, my.. Is that your version of a pick-up line? Gosh, this is a first!

Devon - Not necessary to make fun at me, silly girl.

Destiny - Alright. I'm sorry. But you did interrupt my conversation with your friend... As I asked him to take part in my challenge. So, was that a subtle hint? So you want to take part?
His answer came with a husky tone.

"Anything for you, gorgeous."

I drove the kids back to the house, and Devon came around that very evening. We were quick with the proceedings. The next baby was soon to be on it's way!

As Devon stood there with his muscled body and toned abs, I really had a hard time trying to not admire them. How many hours did he work out in the gym? Or was it all for show for one of those acting jobs?

I dove right back into house chores the next Saturday morning. With the laundry piling up the way it was... I may have to start doing it more often. While I waited for that to finish, I grabbed a book and went to sit in the lounge with Eleazar as he played one of his video games.

It seemed I can't have a moment of peace in this house, as another anomaly came about. The time machine door opened; again.

This time, our unexpected passenger came from the future. I knew Edwin and I had traveled through many time periods... How many exactly, I wondered now.

Andres Rose

The third son to come out of the time machine.

Unfortunately for him, Andres had gotten lost in the time stream, and had some difficulty finding his way back. This had cost him something prized; his youth. He was now a full fledged elder. Andress didn't stay around long. He arrived, then he sped off again. I really wished I could have spoken to him, just once..

Now, what were the kids doing to keep themselves entertained? Eleazar was still, as always, madly invigorated by his video games. Probably playing Grand Theft Auto, or something.

Gardenia had finally gotten Lawrence away from the chess table, but on the condition that they do something together. Which of course, they did. The two teens tackled the training equipment.

Garcia had now taken over the chess table. As a future fashionista, she wanted to make sure she would be capable of making the right decisions when styling, like say, she had to choose between red or pink lip-gloss.

I was tackling the task of teaching Tait on how to walk. Within minutes, he already gave his first steps! What a intelligent little boy he could turn out to be!

"I'm so proud of you, little one..."

Just as I put Tait on the ground to let him play with the Xylophone, my phone rang. It was Abigail. I hadn't spoken to her since.. Well, since she chased me away from her house and her daughters.

"Mom, would it be okay of me to come over? To your house? I'd like to talk to you, very much.."

I took a breath to calm myself. I wasn't angry with the way she had reacted to me that one evening, but I am a bit confused about it.

"Sure. You can come over. But when? I need to feed Tait soon, so it can't be too late."

"I'm walking onto your lawn right as we speak, ma."

Just like she had said, Abigail was already walking up to the door.

I greeted Abby at the door. She didn't look too happy. Was she guilty, or was she somehow mad at me?

Abby took a deep breath, then she launched into talking.

Abigail - Right. Why I'm here... Mom, I'm sorry I was so...rude, with you. You didn't deserve that...

Destiny - Sweetie, it's okay. Your going through a rough time. You have two new mouths to feed, and everything.

Abigail - I know, I know. But it was wrong of me.

Abigail
- The real reason I'm so messed up is because.. Well, mom. The girls are going to grow up without a father. Somehow...murdered him. It's been rough without him there, to help. And I'm also trying to track down who killed him. I don't want to go to the police; I don't think they will co-operate with me.
This time, I was hesitant to open my mouth, for fear of what she might say. I already knew the answer, deep down.

Destiny - Dear, that's terrible. Who's the father, your husband? I didn't know you had gotten married even!

Abigail - We weren't married yet... Engaged, that's the word. I was going to tell you, but then... His name is Elliott Hendricks. I think you might know him? His brother took part in the challenge... Didn't he as well?

Crap. Elliott Hendricks had gotten his hooks into my daughter. This was like his revenge, only from his grave. I have three loving daughters, and two granddaughters from that man now. This was my worst nightmare. Abigail hadn't know what a terrible man he was. Not to mention, way older than her.

Now for those of you don't know, Elliott had been a father in my baby challenge, babies #14, 15 and 16, to be precise. He had been a bit peculiar to start with, really, coming to my house at 3:00 AM, waking me up by playing on his drums. I knew something was afoot the moment I met him, but anyways. From there on I found out that he had set up Corbin, only Corbin was a special agent undercover. He was the mysterious codenamed 'E'. Project Electric, if I'm not mistaken. I later found that I even knew him; from my childhood, yet I couldn't really place him. I had taken a fall on the swing once, and bumped my head, causing a concussion and some memory loss.

Destiny - Yes. That's right. He did take part in my challenge.. I heard what had happened to him, but I didn't know you two..

Abigail - You heard about it? Do you know what had happened?

I shouldn't have said that, I realized. Now she would want to know everything I knew, and she wouldn't be satisfied with it. I have to lie, but I have to lie good. So that she doesn't realize something is wrong with me.

Destiny - I heard, he had gotten into a fight with someone.. A gang, I think. He was walking innocently (I forced that word out) by them, and they had thought he had given one of them a look that looked like he was challenging them... So they attacked them. I don't know if this is true. It was all I heard.

Abby pondered this for a good minute, until I had to make an excuse.

Destiny - Uhm. I have to put little Tait to bed. So, if you'll excuse me..

Abigail - Oh. Sorry. Is that my new brother? Tait? That's a nice name. I'll stop by later again, maybe. Bye.

And with that she ran off. Hopefully to take care of her twins.

I stared after Abigail through the window, as she ran off towards her car. If only she knew, what I knew.

At that moment, I had a very strong urge to stroke my tummy. The baby was reacting to my stress, I guessed.

"It's okay, little one...," I whispered. "He isn't going to hurt you, or the girls. He won't be hurting anyone, anymore..."

I had lied about putting Tait to bed; in fact, I was really teaching him the mechanics of the infamous potty chair.

Back in the dining area, I was happy to see the kids doing homework. The teens would be capable of taking care of themselves and their younger brothers. This gave me some time to skip across the road to Kalia and Demi-Dee's house.

It seems I had arrived on time. Kalia was on her way to a party. I had no clue where Demi was.

Kalia - Oh, mom. You have perfect timing! I was just on my way out to buy clothes! Then I'm gonna hit the clubs. Would you mind babysitting the baby? Its a real drag.

Destiny - Sure, sweetie. But I still have to head back home before midnight to take care of my home kids!

Kalia - Uh, yeah, sure. Demi should be home by then. See ya!

Destiny - Woah, woah, wait. Can you please just show me where everything is to take care of Kristian?

As I walked in, I was horrified; Kristian was lying on the floor! Who would put there baby on the hard cold floor, when they had a perfect crib they could be sleeping in?

Destiny - Why is sweet little Kristian on the floor? Why isn't he in his bed? Oh, the poor baby... Don't worry Kristian, Granny loves you. We'll get you cleaned up, fed, and ready for bed in a minute!

Kalia - Yeah, mom. About that...

As I got upstairs, I was a bit shocked when I entered the kids room. There was another baby already in the crib. So, this was what Kalia was keeping from me?

Destiny - Kalia.. Who is that?

Kalia  - Oh, that's Julie. She's my daughter. An accident, to be precise. I was partying, one night, and I had gotten REALLY drunk, mom.

Julie was a sweet little baby with the cutest cheeks ever. I couldn't believe Kalia would refer to her as an 'accident'. She's the most perfect baby ever.

Kalia - You can't believe how much pain I went through with this little critter. The labor, agh! More than three hours, and only for one baby!

Destiny  - Sweetie, I have 29 kids. I know labor already. It's not that bad, and the joy is so much more when you can finally hold your child in your arms.

Kalia - Whatever. I'm really thinking of giving her up for adoption. I can't take care of her anymore.

Horror. Shock. Surprise. Sadness. That was just some of the emotions I was feeling. Kalia had changed a lot since she left our house. She had gone from a mature girl who was ready for a family, to a party animal that did nothing but drink and dance. What had changed her?

Destiny - Honey, calm down. Just follow me lead. Julie might be hungry now, so take the bottle of milk, and gently place it in her mouth. If she isn't hungry, she won't drink, so look closely.

Kalia reluctantly followed my example, and I saw a faint smile cross her lips as Julie eagerly began drinking from the bottle.

Kalia - Wow.. Look at her go. It's so sweet...

Destiny - I remembered when that was you! You were just as sweet.

But when Julie started crying, Kalia was the first one to freak out.

Kalia - Mo-oooom! She won't stop crying! Why won't she just shut up?!

Destiny - Kalia, don't talk like that. I'm sure she's just tired. Put her in her crib.

Kalia - No, that's it! I've had enough of the baby's whining and constant crying for food. You say they're are such a joy; then why don't they just listen to what I say and shush!

I watched with huge eyes as Kalia placed her own daughter on the ground.

"Kalia! Where are you going?!" I yelled after her.

"To the club! I need a good drink! I can't take these kids any more. Demi has to take Kristian and find a new house. I can't take his crying even. Mom, take Julie. I don't care anymore!"

Those were words I had dreaded, and that I didn't expect from Kalia.

"You.. Don't care.. About her...? Your daughter?" I asked to thin air, long after my own daughter had left.

I turned back to the baby on the ground, and reached to pick her up. Julie eagerly reached out for my grip in return.

How could Kalia not appreciate such a moment? I wondered. She had always been so supportive of me and my challenge, and she usually loved babies.

"Grandma will take care of you, dear. I love you with all my heart already," I crooned to Julie. I felt very heartbroken about what Kalia had said, and how she had just left. How many times have I been left heart broken already?

I gave a sly glance at Kristian; he was soundly asleep in the new cot I bought. I could already hear Demi-Dee's footsteps outside. She would be able to care of him on her own.. But what of Julie? Did Kalia mean what she had said?

Fives minutes later, I found myself on my way home... With Julie. She was soundly asleep in my arms, and I couldn't bear to leave her behind me. I'll babysit her for tonight, then I'll take her back.

No matter what I though, I couldn't justify what I was doing. Taking my own granddaughter from her house. KIDNAPPER! my mind screamed. But tonight I was going to ignore this. Julie needed a goodnight's rest in a comfortable bed, and that's what I was going to give her.

"Goodnight, sweetheart. Have good dreams tonight..."

I watched how she fell asleep with a light snore. She already felt like one of my own babies. Which reminded me; I had to pay attention to my kids again.

Lawrence as a young-adult. He has a sweet boyish face, that stands out oddly from his muscled body. He looks just like his father, but somehow not like him at all. Does that even make sense?

Lawrence dreams of becoming a superstar track athlete, and I wish him all the best with it!

Meanwhile, Tait loved to play with the toybox. But not just with the toys, he loved playing in the box. Look how cute he is as he peeks over the rim at me! I really do hope that he won't ever become stuck in there.

The next morning, I got up early to do some housework, starting with upgrading the shower. I really think a wrench looks and feels good in my hands. Maybe I should do repairing as a side job for extra income?

After the greasy housework, I settled in for a long soak in the tub, to relieve me of some of the stresses of the past week. Would I be expecting a call from Kalia? Would she be worried about Julie now? Could I expect a visit from Abigail, maybe? Would she buzz me with more questions about what I know about Elliott?

I don't know if it was activated by all the stress I had been living through, or just by pure chance, but after my long bath, the pain came. Contractions. Labor. In the bathroom. Great.

Another boy joined the house! How many does that make already? Soon the boys will overpower the girl number.

Welcome to the world,

Infinity Rose

I named my special little boy Infinity, to symbolize the number of boys I was constantly giving birth to. As if the number went on forever. Endless. Infinity.

I put the newest addition in his crib for his first ever nap since entering the world. Only two cribs were occupied with babies currently. Julie and Infinity were the only babies there. Hopefully that will change soon.

In that moment with silence, it was quite a shock to have my phone vibrate to life all of a sudden. A smile spread across my face as I recognized the caller ID>

Destiny - Kate! Sweetie! How've you been?

Kate - Mom? You sound stressed! You know that's bad for the future babies!

Destiny - Thanks for that, Kate, but it isn't necessary. I am fine. Also, I'm happy to say you have a new brother!

Kate - Really? Great! I'll stop by maybe later today, or tomorrow.

Kate - Speaking of babies...

The way her voice sounded, almost made my heart stop. Kate always delivered all the gossip to me. I just hope the gossip hadn't started from her this time around.

Destiny - Kate, are you pregnant?! Is that why you called? Oh my gosh, that would be fantastic!

Kate - Hold your horses, mom. No, I'm not pregnant! I don't think my boyfriend will like that very much. But anyways, did you hear? Kalia has a new little girl! her name is Julie. She is so sweet, but Kalia is such a bi-

Destiny - I know, I know. I went to visit her the other day. Julie is currently sleeping in my house. I can't tell you why, but it's a long story..

Kate - Okay? But did you know about Clara? They had a little girl! They named her Keli. Why, I don't know, but you should see her...

Kate's voice turned distant in my ear, as my thoughts wandered off. Clara had had a little girl. Keli. Kate had said 'they had'... They had.. They had... The penny dropped. They. Clara and Corbin. They had been dating, but it must have blossomed to something else.. Now they have a child together.

Destiny - Kate. I need to go. Tait is whining like crazy in the other room. I gotta give him his bottle... Bye!

Kate - Wait, mo-

Her voice was cut off with the press of the button. I'll apologize for that later.

Single tears streamed from my eyes. In this moment I realized that I had been holding onto a small glimmer of hope. Hope for the future. For the future AFTER the baby challenge. I had hoped, hoped so much, that Corbin and I could be together. I was still in love with him, and I wished he was here, right now, to hug me and tell me he loved me too. Dreams of mine, dreams that would never come true now.

I made my way to my room in a zombie-like stupor. Reality was slipping from my hands. I wasn't in control of myself or my emotions anymore. The stress of the last week and the news I had just received had become to much for me.
Reality was too much to bear; I fainted.
